What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a treatment that is based on the science of behavior and learning. ABA utilizes strategies and procedures that are based on principles of science. Among these principles is the belief that everything happens for a reason. By understanding why things happen, changes can be made to the environment to either increase or decrease behavior. Increasing behavior is typically used for skill acquisition, while decreasing behavior is typically used for decreasing problem or maladaptive behavior. ABA has been scientifically proven to be effective in increasing language, communication and adaptive skills. ABA has also been scientifically proven to decrease problem behavior.
